A Celebration of Muslim American Communities and Culture in L.A.

The Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County are proud to join the L.A. County celebration of Muslim American History Month in July. During this month, and throughout the year, we will share stories from past and present and recognize the richly diverse Muslim American community who call Los Angeles home.

Los Angeles is home to one of the most vibrant, diverse Muslim populations in the country. From longtime residents to recent arrivals, Muslim Angelenos help shape the cultural, artistic, and civic life of our city every day. With roots tracing back to countries and regions around the world—including the Middle East, North and East Africa, South and Central Asia, Southeast Asia, and beyond—Muslim communities in L.A. reflect a rich tapestry of languages, traditions, and histories. This page highlights just a small part of that story. Through food, art, storytelling, and community voices, we invite you to learn more, celebrate, and deepen your understanding of the contributions, experiences, and resilience of Muslim communities across Los Angeles.
